LA PLAYA BEACHWEAR actually started in 2016 as a hobbie. I was young, didn't have a job and was still studying while living in a city in the north coast of Peru after moving there from Montreal, Canada. To be more specific and give all the credit, I lived in the beautiful city of Pimentel that is also a beach in the north of Peru.
Living in a beach, bathing suits and bikinis we're one of the most important pieces of clothing I owned. We had to use one everyday and sometimes, the options given at the stores we're not really my style. I decided to contact a local seamstress and I started designing my own bikinis while she brought them to life because I had no idea how to sew. (and I still have no idea)
One or two years after, exactly in 2016, after receiving lots of comments about my own bikinis, I decided I would not only design bikinis for me but also make a couple to see if I could sell them. I was 19 at that time and I went and tried to sell 25 bikinis. It went pretty well, I made a couple of sales in my living room and decided to go for more next time. I was young, didn't really have any experience, I asked for a loan at a small bank and I only got 400$ so I did it with that!
And agaaaaain, some small sales in my living room, I sold some to small local boutiques soo they could resale them and somehow, in 2018, I stopped.
I got really nervous about being 22 and not having a stable job, negative ideas got into my head about needing to start working for a company, needing to start filling up my cv so I stopped. I got a corporate job. I tried to juggle both jobs but months passed and the bikini business stopped being my priority. I forgot about my dream until now.
I am now 24, back in Montreal, married to a sweet guy AND STILL in the corporate world (eeeeek i know) but this time I'm decided to bring back my dream and brand to life and make it work. I want to be able to give you guys the best products for your summer days, the cutest bikinis, and incredible straw bags, all made in the country my heart is, Peru.
